The newly renovated Athletic Center is full of special areas that highlight our members, local artists and community activities.
Donor Wall
As you enter the Athletic Center a new list of Altavista Area YMCA Contributors is located in the foyer. The display acknowledges capital, endowment and annual supporters. The annual Current Support Campaign will be updated each year. The Donor’s Wall and signage at the front counter are provided by All-Star Impressions of Roanoke.

Faces of the YMCA
Scott Rigler, a YMCA member and employee of Abbott Laboratories, has created the “Faces of the Y” located throughout the Athletic Center. These poster-sized pictures of YMCA members represent the many programs and participants of our organization.
Uncle Billy’s Day Race Display Mitch and Debbie Bernard have recreated the twenty seven years of the Uncle Billy’s Day Race with a beautiful display of running shirts from 1978 through 2004. The display is located in the main lobby and represents one of the Altavista Area YMCA’s longest continuous events.

Character Counts Displays Honesty, respect, responsibility and caring are the four pillars of YMCA character building. A national YMCA display is located in the front lobby and Mitch and Debbie Bernard have used a unique process “thermaprint” to create a colorful tile display in the stairwell.

Adult Lounge Art Gallery
In the lounge area we are pleased to currently display the works of Till Goodan. These prints of the "wild west" once adorned the wall of B.B. Lane's childhood bedroom. Local artists will be chosen on a rotating basis to display their work in our beautifully designed lounge area.
The Altavista Area YMCA is a focal point for our community. These displays highlight the many lives touched by the Altavista Area YMCA and the people who make it all possible.
