AREA YMCA: POOL RULES |

No running, splashing, horseplay, chicken fights,
wrestling, or dunking.

No swimming unless a Lifeguard is on duty.

All persons under 18 years of age who want to swim in the
deep end must first be given the deep-end test by the lifeguard on duty.

No diving in shallow water – diving is permitted in 9 feet
ONLY!
-
All jumps should be feet first and facing forward – no
twisting or backwards jumps.

Children must be at least 10 years old to come to Open
Swim without a responsible adult.

Children must be at least 16 years old to come to Family
Swim without a responsible adult.

No food, drinks, gum, or glass allowed in the Pool Area!
Lifeguards may have water bottles filled with water only.

Flotation devices are only allowed when there are less
than 15 patrons in the pool. The parent must stay within 3 feet of the
child at all times – no exceptions.

Rings, kickboards, balls, and other pool toys/devices may
be used at the lifeguard’s discretion as long as there are less than 15
people in the pool and the devices are being used correctly.

Starting blocks are for competition use only.
-
Persons with open sores or rashes of unknown origins are
not allowed in the pool.

Proper bathing suits are required. Cut-offs are not
allowed, but other normal “land-wear” is allowed if permission is given by
Aquatic Director.

The stairs are for entry and exit from the water only.
Sitting or standing on the stairs, climbing on the railings, swimming
through railings or under the stairs will not be permitted.
** The Lifeguard will enforce
these rules and make any additions deemed necessary. If any patron has
questions or concerns, the Aquatics Director will be happy to address
them.
SPECIAL RULES FOR LARGE GROUPS:

No splashing or spitting water.

Keep hands and feet to self (no tag games like Marco Polo
or Sharks and Minnows).

Jump on the long sides of the pool.
-
Jumping is straight out; no twisty, sideways, or backwards
jumps.

Jump feet-first in the shallow end.
-
Stay off stairs unless going in or out.
-
Do not push off backwards from wall.
-
Jumps that make the jumper land on the buttocks are not
allowed at all.
-
Swimmers must pass the deep-end test to swim in the deep
end.
-
Anyone wearing a float belt cannot go past the 4-foot
depth regardless of swimming ability.
Lifeguards will administer a
warning for the first offense, a 5-minute time-out for the second offense,
and removal from the pool and gym for the third offense.
Any serious offense (fighting,
dunking, pushing, etc.) is grounds for immediate removal. Incidents
requiring suspension from the pool for more than one day will be handled
by the Aquatics Director after the initial punishment from the Lifeguard
on duty.
